Robert V. Bolen, CFA, CFP®, President of Bolen | Dodson & Associates, has more than 23 years of experience in the investment industry.
Mr. Bolen began his investment career in New York City in corporate finance with The Prudential Insurance Company in 1986. He returned to his Nashville roots in early 1988, joining Equitable Securities as a securities analyst. In that role Mr. Bolen performed industry and company specific due diligence; interviewed management, competitors, vendors and suppliers; created and maintained sophisticated earnings models; developed investment themes on industries and companies; regularly wrote industry and company specific research reports; and communicated his investment opinions to, and interacted with, institutional and retail sales forces and with institutional investors.
He continued to develop his research skills as a securities analyst at Nashville based J. C. Bradford & Co. from 1989 to 2000 and was named Partner in 1995. After J.C. Bradford merged with Paine Webber in 2000, Mr. Bolen joined a privately held company as Chief Financial Officer. However, during the fall of 2001, his love of the markets and a keen desire to help individuals attain their financial goals began to call him back. He joined Merrill Lynch & Co. in early 2002 where he remained until starting Bolen Asset Management in August, 2003. He changed the name of the firm to Bolen | Dodson & Associates in August of 2005 after merging with Lori Dodson and Associates.
Mr. Bolen graduated Magna Cum Laude from Western Kentucky University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Indiana University in 1986 with an MBA in Finance and Management. He earned his Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1988 and his Certified Financial Planner designation in 2002.
Mr. Bolen is actively engaged in community affairs.

Mr. Bolen lives in Franklin, TN with his wife Pam and their two children, Marissa and Zachary.
